How Do I Reset My Viking Gate Operator?

Viking Gate Operator On Wooden Gate

If something goes awry with your Viking Gate Operator, you may need to reset it. Resetting your Viking Gate Operator is easier than you think. Viking gate operators are created for easy usability and can be reset with just a few steps. Most of the time, resets must occur if a power failure happens.

How to Reset A Viking Gate Operator

You'll need to clear the limits positions to reset a Viking gate operator. To do this, follow the steps below:

  • Connect your motor harness to a control board.
  • Use The "Open Right" Or "Open Left" connector if your gate opens from the left or right from the inside.
  • Move your gate to the correct open position, then press and hold the "Open Limit" button until the LED ceases flashing and is a solid illumination.
  • After, move your gate to the closed position of your choice and hold the "Close Limit" button until your LED no longer flashes and is a solid illumination.
  • After this, you must set the open and close limits and reset your gate operator. Remember that this method only works when all power stops and affects your Viking gate operator. However, you may not need to reset your Viking gate operator if all power is not lost.

How Do You Reset An Audible Alarm In A Viking Gate Operator

If your Viking gate operator has an audible alarm, there are ways you can reset it. First, the audible alarm is a UL325 requirement and must sound after two consecutive events detected by the gate operator's primary entrapment protection devices. If you're trying to follow UL325 regulations, you need this alarm to sound. This alarm rings until a stop command is set.

If you need to reset the alarm and actuate the stop command, you can either use the built-in stop switch on the control board or an external stop button can be used as well. The alarm's stop and reset button cannot be near the gate or should not make the operator move or start.

What If Your Gate Operator Has A Different Reset Mechanism?

Please refer to your Viking gate operator manual if your operator needs to be reset with the above information. Sometimes, another issue may affect your operator, and a reset will not fix the problem.
