Will My Viking Gate Operator Rust?

Viking Gate Operator

In short, no, a Viking Gate Opener will not rust. All Viking Gate Operators are protected from rust with the application of multiple layers of corrosion preventive coatings. Each operator's ¼” steel chassis is coated in G90, a clear zinc plating, and a UV-rated powder, all of which will protect against rust and more, even in the harshest conditions.

Protective Layers

G90:

G90 galvanizing means the steel chassis has been zinc-coated using a continuous hot-dip process and .90 ounces of zinc applied to the steel per square foot. This layer will withstand roughly 15 to 20 years of harshest environments. A galvanized layer will protect against corrosion, scratches, dents, flaking, and fading.

Clear Zinc Plating:

Zinc plating is another corrosion-resistant layer that slows rusting by 30 years. This layer repels moisture in air molecules, has a tolerance of up to 120 degrees (Fahrenheit), and is highly malleable or stretchy. Additionally, clear zinc appears metallic which will maintain a high-quality appearance.

UV-Rated Powder:

UV-rated powder coating defends against UV ray damage and fading and is weather-resistant. Like the zinc plating, the UV powder layer is ideal for parts exposed to outside air and moisture. The UV-rated powder coating is also thin, adding another 20-year layer of protection without compromising functionality or look.

Additionally, each of the processes of applying each layer is environmentally friendly and inexpensive, providing you with a safe and durable product you will not have to maintain.
